Tis the season for gift giving. My new favorite Christmas movie is Noelle on Disney+ and at the end she says Christmas is more magical now that she is the one that gets to give the presents. I couldn't agree more with that! While it's always fun to get a gift, it really means so much more to GIVE gifts. For me the fun doesn't stop with just giving the gift, I love to make the gift tags and wrap that go with the gift too!
How To Make Gift Tags With Cricut – 3 Ways
Making gift tags with the Cricut is super easy and there are several different ways you can make gift tags, depending on what supplies you have on hand. Today I'll show you how to make these Merry & Bright gift tags three ways. The first, and easiest way to make gift tags if you're making more than one, is using the Print Then Cut feature in Design Space. You can learn more about Print Then Cut here .
The second way to make gift tags is perfect if you want your tags to have a more personalized touch. We'll use Cricut's glitter pens to make these tags. And the third way, using iron-on, makes gift tags extra sturdy. These are a great way to use scrap iron-on vinyl and/or if you are shipping gifts (or want to use the gift tags over and over again). I used cellophane to wrap Bath and Body Works candles and attached the tags with twine. These make great gifts for friends, teachers, neighbors or really anyone who loves yummy smelling candles! Supplies Needed For Gift Tags
Not only is making gift tags fun, but it's really affordable too! With the 3 ways below, you can pick what supplies you already have on hand and, possibly, make these tags for FREE! Below is a list of all the supplies I used to make gift tags all three ways.
For all 3 tags:
- Cricut Machine (I used my Explore Air 2 but you can use the Maker too)
- LightGrip Mat
- Cardstock
Printer (for Print Then Cut)
Cricut Glitter Pens (for writing)
Weeding Tool (for Iron-On)
Everyday Iron-On Vinyl – I used Green Apple (for Iron-On)

How To Use Print Then Cut To Make Gift Tags
Like I mentioned earlier, this is the quickest and easiest way to make gift tags if you're making more than one or two. I LOVE the Print The Cut feature in Design Space. We used it to make everything for our Donut Gender Reveal Party earlier this year, and it's the method I use most for making invitations and gift tags.

To make print then cut tags in Design Space you'll want to start with a gift tag. There are a ton of options available for free for Access members. Just search gift tags under images.
Once you have your gift tag chosen, you'll want to add your text. I used a combination of a Merry & Bright image in Design Space and text I added. Line up your text how you would like and click attach. Select what color you want your text from the LINETYPE drop down menu in the top menu.
Move your text on to your gift tag where you would like it and click the FLATTEN button in the bottom right tool bar. 
Use the DUPLICATE button in the top right tool bar if you want to make more than one tag.
Click Make it. On the screen where you select your Cricut machine you'll have the option to Print. Select your printer from the drop down menu (TIP – If you don't have a home printer, select print to PDF. Then you can save the PDF to a thumb drive and take it to Kinkos or another printer to have tags printed). For gift tags you'll want to make sure you have bleed turned OFF.
Once your gift tags are printed, load them on the LightGrip mat, select cardstock on your dial (or medium cardstock in the custom materials menu in Design Space) and cut your tags.
How To Use Cricut Pens To Make Gift Tags

Just like above, the first thing you'll want to do is select your gift tag from IMAGES.
Once you have your tag selected, you'll want to add the text. I used a combination of a Merry & Bright image in Design Space and text I added. Line up your text how you would like and click ATTACH.
Change LINETYPE from Cut to DRAW in the top menu. Change the color to what ever color you would like. NOTE you don't have to use the exact color your pen will be in this menu. But it is good to use the same color family (so you can use green for green glitter) so that you'll know what pen to add when it's time to cut. This is especially important if you are writing in different colors as Design Space will prompt you what color pen to add when it's time to write/cut.
Once you have your text added and changed to draw, line your text up on your gift tag and select ATTACH in the bottom right menu. Select make it.
Load cardstock on to LightGrip cutting mat and load into Cricut Machine. Select cardstock on your dial (or medium cardstock in the custom materials menu in Design Space). Add your pen to the A clamp. Click the flashing C to begin the draw and cut.
How To Use Iron-On Vinyl To Make Gift Tags
I love using iron-on on cardstock! It's a great way to make sturdy decorations for parties (like I did for this Pineapple Party ), invitations and of course, gift tags!

Like with the previous two methods, the first thing you'll want to do is select your gift tag from IMAGES.
Once you have your tag selected, you'll want to add the text. I used a combination of a Merry & Bright image in Design Space and text I added. Line up your text how you would like and click ATTACH.
Size your text so it fits on your gift tag and click Make It.
Make sure to MIRROR your text mat on the next screen.
Put cardstock on to LightGrip cutting mat and load into Cricut Machine. Select cardstock on your dial (or medium cardstock in the custom materials menu in Design Space). Click the blinking C to cut the cardstock.
Remove the cardstock from the LightGrip Mat. ***TIP- The easiest way to remove cardstock from mats is to place your mat upside down, so the cardstock is on your working surface and peel back LightGrip mat at an angle. This will insure that your cardstock doesn't curl.
Put your iron-on vinyl on the mat, shiny side down. Move dial on Explore Air 2 to IRON-ON (or select EVERYDAY IRON-ON from the Custom Materials Menu in Design Space). Load mat into machine and click the blinking C to cut the iron-on.
Use the weeding tool to weed excess iron-on vinyl.
Preheat EasyPress 2 to 300°F and set the timer to 15 seconds. You can find the temperature and time settings for all types of iron-on and materials here .
Place tag on EasyPress Mat and pre-heat for 5 seconds.
Line up iron-on vinyl on tag.
Press with light pressure for 15 seconds.
Slowly peel plastic backing away at an angle.
